Preston Campbell III, MD
Dr. Preston Campbell brings more than 30 years of leadership in rare disease innovation and healthcare transformation to Ultimate Medicine, where he serves on the Board of Advisors. As former President and CEO of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, he pioneered the venture philanthropy model that reshaped rare disease drug development and enabled 12 FDA-approved therapies, extending patient survival from 27 to 50 years.
At Ultimate Medicine, Dr. Campbell advises on diagnostic and therapeutic strategy, drawing on his experience in clinical development, regulatory navigation, and risk mitigation. His leadership has set global standards for research excellence, patient advocacy, and translational collaboration across academia, biotech, and foundations.
Dr. Campbell earned his MD from the University of Virginia and completed clinical training at Vanderbilt University, where he served as Chief Resident and later directed the Cystic Fibrosis Care Center.
